Why I made this

Your clinic is part of your treatment.

Before a client ever sits in your chair, they have already taken in the front door, the waiting room and the way the place feels, and they have started deciding how much they trust you.

Most of us plan a clinic around the treatment: the chair, the lights, the fridge. The rooms around it get whatever is left of the budget and the energy, and clients notice.

This checklist walks you through every room in the order a client moves through it, so nothing gets left to whatever is left over.

What is inside

Every room, in the order your client moves through it.

Tick what you already have, circle what you need, and use the planner at the end to decide where your budget goes first. Use it for a full build, a new room or a Sunday afternoon refresh.

Tool 1

The Brief

Before you pick a single chair, decide how your clinic should feel. Every decision after this gets easier, and it stops you buying beautiful things that fight each other.

  • Your ideal client and the three words you want them to feel
  • The rooms you need now and the rooms that can wait
  • Your total budget and the most you will spend on any one room

Tools 2 and 3

Arrival, Reception, Waiting and Consult

Your client has decided how much they trust you before they reach your chair. Tick through the street, the front door, the desk, the waiting room and the consult space.

  • Signage, entry and directions that make arriving easy
  • A desk that greets, and conversations nobody can overhear
  • Seating, light and privacy for the room where clients decide

Tool 4

The Treatment Room

The room you spend your whole day in, planned for your body, your workflow and your client’s comfort.

  • Layout and workflow, so everything is within reach
  • Layered light that never shines in a reclined client’s eyes
  • Comfort, privacy, hygiene and the parts nobody photographs

Tools 5 and 6

The Photo Corner and the Details

Set up one spot for consistent before and after photos, then add the small touches clients remember long after they leave.

  • A photo set-up you record once and never move
  • Scent, sound, touch and the cup of tea, done properly
  • The mirror moment before they face the waiting room
The Spend Now or Later planner page of the Clinic Design Checklist
Tool 7

Spend Now or Later

A planner for every big item in a fit out: tick now or later, set a budget and track what you actually spend.

  • Fourteen items listed, with space for your own
  • Budget and actual side by side, so nothing creeps
  • A final walk-through before your first client arrives
Who this is for

For the injector building something of their own.

  • Injectors planning their first clinic
  • Moving from a rented room into a space of your own
  • Adding a treatment room, or redoing a tired one
  • Clinic owners ready for a refresh before the next busy season

Practical, printable and written for working clinics, not showrooms. Every photo in the checklist is a real room in my clinic.

Cosmetic nurse · Clinic owner · Mentor

I'm Amy, registered nurse since 2009 and cosmetic injector for fifteen years. I have run my own clinic for nine years and built it into a team of twelve.

My purpose and mission is to be a support to other injectors on their journey, to create community not competition, and to raise the industry standard for our clients, our colleagues and our businesses.

This checklist is for every injector getting ready to build a space of their own. Community over competition. If it helps, send it to the injector who is about to open their doors.
